Sunday Snippet: Broken

Today, I'm taking a different approach. Mainly because my brain is burnt out from working on my novel (my deadline is in less than a month...!), so I am taking it to the poetic side tonight.

Tighten the cord around my neck
Break me apart, leave me a wreck
Nothing that's left of me works how it should
Replacement parts did all that they could
But the crowd keeps watching, their eyes transfixed
On the woman whose soul could never be fixed
So the bell doth chime, the rope snaps taught
Ending a battle that never was fought.
