I’m lying here in the dark
And all my eyes will see,
Is you standing next to the bed
Staring quietly back at me.
Why couldn’t you be like that
When you were really here?
Always yelling so loud and harsh
Yet now you’re nowhere near.
My mind tricks me constantly
Thinks it can see you here,
Why can’t you just leave me alone?
I no longer want to care.
My body’s donned in misery
My feet leaden with despair,
My hands gripping a fantasy
And that is all I wear.
I close my eyes against the sun
As it starts to rise,
Another night passing by
While something in me dies.
