About M. Hendrix

M. Hendrix 2012
My full name is Mary Hendrix, though I usually label everything with M. Hendrix. I am a student of the University of Phoenix, aiming to get my degree in Database Administration. I've been a casual writer for years, never having the ambition to publish my work until recently last year. I place a large amount of blame of Ro Mae for that, because she's much too supportive of the idea!

Some of my past times (when I'm not writing or going to school) include hiking; the mountains that surround my valley town certainly help with that! I also never turn down an invitation to go fishing, even though I don't eat fish. I also like to camp and play with my cat.

I view my 'gay' lifestyle as just merely walking a different path in life. I am not ashamed or find it weird; it's normal for who I am! I find it a subject that isn't really worth discussing, as it's not a 'problem' or needing to be discussed. I love Ro, end of discussion.

My family consists of my mother and older brother, my sister-in-law (and everyone that comes with her), my extended family of several cousins, a few uncles and aunts, and my grandparents from my father's side. My greatest supports and 'cheerleaders' are my cousins, my grandmother Wendy, my friend Britt, and my lovely Ro Mae. Without their support I would have never felt my writing was good enough to share with the world.

I thank my writing group at the UoP, who've given me great insight and conversation on the craft of writing. It is unbelievable how just having someone who can empathize with the unique problems and joys that come with creative writing can make a difference. I also want to thank my local NaNoWriMo group; for the crazy, eccentric, fun times we spent this last November, and for staying in touch after we all became winners. I can't wait to go at it again this year!

I love hearing what people think of my writing, and I'm always open to criticism; without it, I cannot grow as a writer. The readers are who make my writing better. Please don't be shy, and take a minute to comment.

-M. Hendrix
